Book I: The Wolf
The Players gather to travel to some far off destination. (Prehaps a new outpost or a well know hub for adventures.) One night, while still in the middle of the caravan’s journey over a old mountain pass, a thick unsettling fog rolls in. When the silhouettes of alien creatures and masses of tentacled horrors appear in the fog the wagons are unexpectedly thrown off the cliff side into the night.
The Players awaken the following morning crawling out of rubble which appears to be a landslide. After a little navigation through the still mist covered woods they reach a small woodsmen village. The Players spend about levels 1-6 here. They first have to deal with someone has been alchemically poisoning the water supply and then later the savage beast king that roams the woods.
They also first meet the Vistani, a group of wandering nomads that are thought to be native to this plane. They inform the party that this is in fact another plane and that way back home may be impossible, unless they defeat the realm’s Dark Lord, whom happens to be the beast king that roams the woods.
After defeating the beast king, the Vistani trust onto them a Vistani Seer, a blind woman whom can lead them through the mists and into another dark realm to see their leader, Madam Eva, one who may hold the secret to travel back home. They also hint at trying to do such is foolish, “since their souls are already damned”.
